Lorence Nigtingale Higher Institute Of Health And Biomedical Sciences

Florence Nightingale Higher Institute is located in Bamenda III on the way to the Council. It is about 500 meters away from the Divisional Officer’s office on the way to the council office. Recently we were one of those institutions that were chosen to be visited by the D.O. for Bamenda III possibly due to the mode of operation in our institution.

So what summarily was the interchange between you and the Divisional Officer?

His having chose to come and visit us is a clear indication that he recognises what we have been doing here. When he arrived, he too was very impressed when he saw that students were in class studying. He gave us words of encouragement were very uplifting.

What do you think is the peculiarity of Florence Nightingale Institute?

Those who founded this institute were retired and as Laboratory Technicians they thought they should hand down the skills they had acquired in their lengthy careers. They felt Florence Nightingale would provide a framework through which such knowledge could be transmitted. So our group of retirees created this structure as a channel for the transmission of knowledge.

Do you have a message for the stakeholders of this institution?

To the parents I call on them to send their children here because our fees are moderate and take into consideration the difficult economic times that we are facing. We have made it possible that students coming here should have the possibility of getting lodging facilities since some of them come from far away? There are comfortable housing facilities and the landlords are understanding and are prepared to give out these facilities at moderate prices.
